Loch Morlich

Loch Morlich

Loch Morlich, Cairngorms

Famed for their natural beauty, the Cairngorms in the Cairngorm National Park span from Aviemore in the north-west, Glen Gairn, and Braemar in the south-east, and Glen Feshie in the south-west. The Cairngorms feature the primeval Caledonian forest, which is one of the last in Britain. The Cairngorms are home to many rare species of birds and wildlife, including Golden Eagles, Snowy Owls, Ospreys, Pine Martins, Red Squirrels, Otters and Mountain Hares.

The Cairngorms are popular with winter tourists, having the Cairn Gorm Ski Centre, Glenshee Ski Centre and The Lecht Ski Centre plus a funicular railway which opened in 2001. The mountains are also a popular destination for hill-walking, cycling, birdwatching, climbing, deer stalking, gliding and fly fishing.
