Scotland’s Historic Kirkyards Course

The Conservation, Care and Maintenance of Scotland’s Historic Kirkyards Course

Scottish Traditional Skills Training Centre

To be held at Fyvie Castle, Fyvie, Aberdeenshire, the Scottish Traditional Skills Training Centre will deliver a highly important two day training course: THE CONSERVATION, CARE AND MAINTENANCE OF SCOTLAND’S HISTORIC KIRKYARDS.

The course has been developed in response to the need to provide specialist training for individuals and representatives of organisations responsible for protecting, conserving and managing Historic Kirkyards in Scotland. The Course, which will be attended by a small, select group of individuals from throughout Scotland, will examine the key issues and factors which must be understood and addressed in order to successfully meet the challenges and opportunities presented by our Historic Kirkyards.

To this end, over the two days, a range of leading authorities will impart valuable information as well as highly useful advice and guidance to those involved in developing programmes for the care, conservation and maintenance of this critically important element within our Built and Cultural Heritage. The Event will also provide an outstanding opportunity for those attending to share ideas and exchange information concerning the specific Kirkyard projects they are involved in.

As we have received support for the delivery of The Course from Aberdeenshire Council, we are able to offer places for those attending at a greatly reduced fee of £200 for the two days. The fee includes registration for the course, catering during the two days, as well as dinner and refreshments in the Castle on Tuesday evening. You will need to arrange your own accommodation.

To enable a high degree of interaction between those attending and presenting, a limited number of delegate places are available. A cheque for £200 made payable to the Scottish Traditional Skills Training Centre will secure your place on The Course. This should be posted to the Scottish Traditional Skills Training Centre, Fyvie Castle, Fyvie, Turriff, Aberdeenshire, AB53 8JS.

Advertise For Free

Aberdeenshire has a wealth to offer, both to tourists and locals alike. Ardgrain aims to promote the very best of Aberdeenshire and the North East of Scotland to a worldwide audience, without charge.

Why don't we charge for adverts in the Aberdeenshire Guide? What is the catch?

There isn't a catch. Our Aberdeenshire Guide adverts are 100% free. Ardgrain is a local website which aims to promote Aberdeenshire to a wider audience and to provide a local focal point for information. We don't want to charge you for this.

(Nor do we want to build a huge but meaningless list of local businesses by harvesting information from the web without permission. We could do, but we'd just end up with a directory the same as 99% of those already out there. Our Aberdeenshire Guide aims to offer a little bit more, because each and every business has chosen to be included.)
